A program extraction part 5 extracts program information corresponding to the past channel selection state of the user stored in the storage part 4 from EPG information gathered by a program information collecting part 6. Then a recommended program provision part 7 displays the extracted program information on a television receiver 8. Consequently, a broadcast program matching user's taste can be retrieved from program information and displayed to assist a choice of a desired channel by the user without requiring any troublesome operation.
