PURPOSE: To secure a progressive wave pump capable of achieving a minimal amount of control, by getting a transverse vibrating deformation produced by a piezo-vibrator installed in one end of an elastic body, while absorbing the vibration through a vibrator installed in the other end.
CONSTITUTION: An AC field is impressed on each of piezo-vibrators 1 and 3 by an oscillator 7 and made into vibration, thereby letting each of elastic bodies 5 and 6 produce their transverse vibration. This transverse vibration is converted into electric power by means of each of other piezo-vibrators 2 and 4, absorbing the power with impedance Z1, and a progressive wave toward a discharge port 9 from a suction port 8 is formed up. As the piezo-vibrator, a piezoelectric ceramic, a single-crystal piezoelectric material, etc., are used. Pump capacity depends upon the material size of these elastic bodies 5 and 6 and the extent of impressed voltage in the piezo-vibrator, so that pump discharge can be adjusted when these elements are adjusted right.
