A projection device 20 scans a hologram recording medium 55 with coherent light by a scanning device 65; allows the coherent light diffused by the hologram recording medium 55 to enter an imaging optical system 70; and converts the coherent light to converged light by the imaging optical system 70 to illuminate an illumination target zone LZ. The hologram recording medium 55 includes recorded information of first and second aperture diaphragms. The hologram recording medium 55 regenerates an image of light beam that has passed through the first aperture diaphragm from among the light beams radiated from a scattering plate.
