Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection device by which speckles on a diffusion screen are made inconspicuous, and the entire configuration of which can be downsized and simplified.SOLUTION: A projection device 20 comprises: an optical element 50 which can diffuse coherent light; an irradiation device 40 for irradiating the optical element with the coherent light so that the coherent light scans on the optical element; an optical modulator 30 which is illuminated by the coherent light made incident from the irradiation device to each position of the optical element and diffused; a diffusion member 15 having a diffusion surface for causing a modulation image generated by the optical modulator to diffuse; and a magnification projection optical system 80 which forms a virtual image of the modulation image diffused by the diffusion surface and allows an observer to visually recognize the virtual image. The rays of coherent light made incident on respective positions of the optical element 50 and diffused illuminate the optical modulator 30 so as to overlap each other on the optical modulator 30.
