To improve the contrast of a screen and to improve the brightness and the directivity of the screen by using the screen composed of a retroreflector and a black thin plate.
The retroreflector 10 where a reflection cell 12 reflecting reflected light 24 is formed is set on the screen 18. The thin steel sheet 16 whose entire surface is processed to be black in order to improve the contrast of the screen 18 is provided at the back surface part of the retroreflector 10. When incident light 22 is diverged from a projector 20, the diverged incident light 22 is reflected in parallel with the incident light 22 by the cell 12 formed on the retroreflector 10 of the screen 18. Thereafter, the reflected light 24 is made incident on an observer 26, so that the observer 26 views a picture formed on the screen 18. At such a time, peripheral external light 32 which is not the incident light 22 is prevented from being reflected by the diffusing particles 14 of the cell 12, whereby it is not made incident on the observer 26.
