Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a projection type headlight for an automobile which has a simple structure and can make the clearcut line of a light distribution pattern clear according to a moving state.
CONSTITUTION: A projection type headlight is provided with a reflector 13, a light source 12 arranged at the first focus F1 of the reflector 14, a projection lens 16, a cylindrical right side shade 22 for forming a coaxial-like proceeding car side clear line arranged horizontally so as to cross the reflector 14 at the approximate focus position of the projection lens 16 in the vicinity of second focus F2, and a cylindrical left side shade 21 for forming an oncoming vehicle side clearcut line. The shades 21, 22 are turned around a turning center axis 0 so that the clearcut line of a light distribution pattern is adjusted up and down in the projection type head lamp for a vehicle. The right and left shade 21, 22 are formed unitedly as a shade, and the outside shapes of the cross sections of the right and left shades 21, 22 are formed into such predetermined distorted round shapes as distances from the turning axis 0 are different in a peripheral direction, so that the top side edge positions of the shades 21, 22 are not allowed to change in a light axis L direction, and are allowed to change continuously only in an up and down direction.
