Abstract:
To suppress needless variations in brightness, contrast, and color tone of a picture projected by a projection type liquid crystal display device.
This display device comprises a source of light; liquid crystal panels 12, 13, 14 for modulating luminous fluxes emitted from the source of light; driving circuits 32, 33, 34 for applying a common voltage and a video signal to the liquid crystal panels 12, 13, 14; temperature detectors 22, 23, 24 for detecting each temperature in the neighborhood of the liquid crystal panels 12, 13, 14; and a control part 30 for controlling the common voltage so as to reduce variations in transmittances of the liquid crystal panels 12, 13, 14 based on the detection values of the temperature detectors 22, 23, 24.
