PURPOSE: To reduce the weight and size of a color television and enhance the resolution by providing a deflecting device in such a manner that each electron beam scans each area, and using a large-aperture electron lens common to electron beams as the main lens part of an electron gun.
CONSTITUTION: Since a deflecting device 29 simultaneously polarizes first, second and third electron beams 26B, 26G, 26R, three polarizing devices are not required, and the manufacturing cost and power consumption of a picture tube device can be reduced. A main lens part for finally focusing the first, second, and third electron beams 26B, 26G, 26R onto a phosphor screen 24 is formed from a large-aperture and low-magnification electron lens common to the three electron beams. Thus, the focusing characteristic is enhanced without increasing the power consumption of the deflecting device, and the resolution can be improved.
