A color difference component correction device 70 in the projector for projecting an image based on image data input from the external on a screen includes: a data format detecting conversion unit 71 for converting the image data into the Y:Cb:Cr=4:4:4 format; a color difference detection unit 72 for detecting color difference components; a color difference decision unit 73 for determining whether all color difference components of adjacent pixels in each two pixels in the color difference components of respective pixels coincide with one another; a color difference correction unit 74 for correcting the color difference components when all the color difference components of adjacent pixels in each two pixels are coincident with one another; and a correction data format conversion unit 75 for converting the image data based on the corrected color difference components into RGB format data again.
