PURPOSE: To shorten remarkably the working hours for proofreading at printing providing an accuracy and a speediness by converting an original manuscript before printed and a printing manuscript photocomposed based on the original manuscript into electronic data, proofreading by comparing and collating these data with each other electronically.
CONSTITUTION: A photocomposed printing manuscript D3 is inputted from a scanner 1, an optical character recognizer 2 recognizes a character in an image read in from the scanner 1 to make it a character code. A Japanese input device 3 inputs, for example, a handwritten manuscript before printed by means of a word processor from a keyboard. A comparing and proofreading device 4 is constituted, for example, of a calculator for comparing a character outputted from the optical character recognizer 2 with a character outputted from the Japanese input device 3, and extracting errors after the printing based on the manuscript before printed. An output device 5 comprises a printer for outputting a difference data before and after printing obtainable at the comparing and proofreading device 4 and a CRT device. Thus, the proofreading is performed electronically so that the time required for the proofreading will to shortened.
