Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce an impact by providing a joint shaft bearing for a second shaft in a joint case holding hole to slide freely, fitting a seal plate into the holding hole, and forming a throughhole communicating with the holding hole which is larger than an inner diameter of it in a connection flange of a first shaft.
CONSTITUTION: When a vehicle collides to apply an excessive force in the shaft direction of a propeller shaft 14, an end part 14-2a of a second shaft 14-2 moves toward a first shaft 14-1 to press a seal plate 28. The seal plate 28 is moved to a throughhole 46 by an excessive pressure force of the second shaft 14-2 to be pulled off from a holding hole 26 because an inner diameter D2 of the throughhole 46 is larger than an inner diameter D1 of the holding hole 26. The second shaft 14-2 can thus be movable toward the first shaft 14-1, and the whole length of the propeller shaft 14 becomes smaller. A condition of the propeller shaft 14 stretching to deformation of a car body can thus be avoided, an impact absorbing force can be increased, and the impact can be reduced.
