Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a propeller for a vessel of a simple constitution in which propeller efficiency is decreased in a low speed rotation range of the propeller to satisfy low speed operation performance, and in which propeller efficiency is increased in a high speed rotation range in a high speed rotation range to secure high output performance.
CONSTITUTION: Movable blades 32m are pivotally supported on a propeller boss 12 in which fixed propellers 32f are formed through blade shafts parallel to their axial line. The movable blades 32m are opened/closed to increase/ decrease a propeller diameter D2 in accordance with increase/decrease of centrifugal force, so the propeller diameter D2 of the movable blades 32m becomes the maximum at an opened position to be almost similar to that of the fixed blades 32f, while at least part of the movable blades 32m are overlapped with the fixed blades 32f at a closed position.
