PURPOSE: To facilitate fabrication, repair and check as well as suppress the manufacturing cost of a propelling device for motorboats, small fishing boats, etc. by introducing unit construction to the whole propelling system including the engine to the final propelling means together with a case for them.
CONSTITUTION: The engine 30, speed reduction gear 32 and power transmission device 33 and a part of the propeller shaft 34 are fitted in a hole 28 excavated in the hull and mounted in a case 37, which is equipped on the hull. This case 37 is made of fiberglass-reinforced plastics with its upper end opened. The case 37 is fitted in the hole 28 in the hull from above in such an arrangement that the propeller shaft 34 and the propeller 31 are facing downward to the outside from an opening 43 excavated in the bottom 36 while cushion materials, 45, 46 are put in the specified positions and the case 37 is joined to the hull with the flange part 37a at the upper end of the case 37. According to this design, mounting of the case 37 to the hull can be carried out even on the water, so that preparation and fabrication can be performed easily.
