A compound of the formula [A is vinylene group, etc.; B is CH(OR3), etc.; R1, R2, R3 are each H, an acyl, etc.; Ar is phenyl having two or more halogen groups, etc., X is CH2, O, etc.; Z is OR4, NHSO2R6, SR7, etc.; R4, R6, R7 are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, an aralkyl, etc.], e.g. 16-(3,5- dichlorophenoxy)17,18,19,20-tetranorprostaglandin F2α methyl ester. The compound of the formula is synthesized by the application of a general PFG2α synthetic method comprising introducing an ω-chain having a multi-substituted aryloxy group to Corey lactone as a starting raw material, converting the product into a lactone, reducing the lactone into a lactol, subjecting the reduction product to a Wittig reaction, converting the carboxylic acid portion into an ester portion, etc., and, if necessary, subsequently subjecting the product to a protecting group-removing reaction or an acylation reaction.
