Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection circuit capable of preventing a power supply device provided with a power factor improvement circuit from breaking down due to lowering of an AC voltage inputted into the power supply device.SOLUTION: A protection circuit 20 includes: a voltage detection circuit 12 that detects an amplitude of an AC voltage inputted into a power supply device 1 including a power factor improvement circuit 3 including a control circuit 32 that improves a power factor through control of on/off of a switching element connected between output terminals of a rectification circuit; a comparison circuit 14 that outputs a first voltage when the amplitude is higher than a prescribed voltage, and outputs a second voltage when the amplitude is equal to or lower than the prescribed voltage; a stop circuit 15 that, while an output voltage of the comparison circuit 14 is the second voltage, outputs a stop signal, which instructs to maintain the switching element 31 in an off state, to the control circuit 32; and a holding circuit 16 that, once the amplitude of the AC voltage inputted into the power supply device 1 becomes equal to or lower than the prescribed voltage, causes the stop circuit 15 to continue the output of the stop signal until the input of the AC voltage into the power supply device 1 is stopped.
