To obtain the subject composition containing fine pigment, fat phase and solid elastomeric polyorganosiloxane so as to increase the screening power of the fine pigment and afford excellent protective factor against rays of light.

This protective composition is obtained by incorporating a composition containing fine pigment consisting of at least one kind of metal oxide with a solid elastomeric polyorganosiloxane in combination with fat phase. In this case, the polyorganosiloxane, which is either partly or fully crosslinked, is pref. in gel form incorporated with a hydrocarbon oil and/or silicone oil, and accounts for 3-80wt.% of the mixture of the elastomeric polyorganosiloxane and fat phase and 0.3-60wt.% of the whole composition. The fine pigment, which is titanium dioxide or iron oxide each 10-60nm in particle size, accounts for 0.5-30wt.% of the whole composition. This composition is usable for makeup of or caring for the skin, antagonizes wrinkles/fine wrinkles, and is useful for protecting both the hair and skin.
