To provide a protective film for a polarizing plate having excellent optical isotropy and to provide a method for manufacturing the protective film for the polarizing plate having excellent flatness and little distribution of alignment angles in a film width direction.
The protective film for the polarizing plate exhibits a relation between in-plane retardation Ro and the alignment angle θ expressed by an inequality 10-2√2×sin2θ×π/180-Ro≥0.
