To provide a lightweight and flexible protective material of high moisture permeability capable of adsorbing and removing a very small amount of a gaseous chemical substance, which permeates a permselective layer, by a gas adsorbing layer, capable of protecting a wearer against the penetration of a gas from an abrasion, flaw or joint part formed during use or a fastener part and suppressing the heat stress of the wearer, and protective clothing.
This protective clothing material has at least one permselective layer, which has a permeation preventing capacity against gaseous chemical substance and is characterized in that its moisture permeability due to a JIS L 1099 calcium chloride method (A-1 method) is 60-850 g/m2h and its moisture permeability due to a JIS L 1099 potassium acetate method (B-1 method) is 300-16,000 g/m2h, and at least one layer containing a gas adsorbable layer (gas adsorbing layer) and has at least one gaseous chemical substance arranged on the outside of the gas adsorbing layer when looked from the inside of clothing, and the protective clothing comprising it.
