To provide protective material and a protective garment flexible and suppressed in reduction in adsorptive performance to a minimum, and obtained by being laminated with other layers without losing adsorptive performance of the layers comprising gas adsorptive substance such as activated carbon.

The protective material and the protective garment respectively comprise the layer (the gas adsorptive layer) formed of activated carbon having BET specific surface area of 700 m2/g to 3,000 m2/g. The protective material and the protective garment are obtained by laminating the gas adsorptive layer and the other layer via an adhesive having a melt index of ≤100g/10 min.
