To provide a protective material for preventing the generation of burning, coagulation or the like on the surface of a material to be worked at the time of hot- and warm-working the material to be worked consisting of active metal such as Ti and a manufacturing method of it.
This material is the protective material 10 for hot- and warm- working which is coated with the thin layer 6 of Al2O3 on the surface of at least one side of a substrate 2 consisting of alloy steel or the like. This method is a manufacturing method for obtaining this protective material 10 by which the substrate 1 containing ≥3 wt.% Al or the substrate 2 on the surface of which the thin layer 4 of Al is coated is heated to about 1000°C in oxidizing atmosphere and the thin layer 6 of Al2O3 is formed on the surface of the above substrate. Or, the manufacturing method of the protective material by which, by executing anodizing treatment of the substrate 2 on the surface of which the thin layer 4 of Al is coated, the thin layer 6 of Al2O3 is formed on the substrate 2 is included.
