To obtain a new protein which has a specific amino acid sequence, suppresses the proliferation of a lymphatic hematopoietic cell, and is useful for diagnosing and treating diseases in the lymphatic hematopoietic system.
This is a new protein which has an activity of suppressing the proliferation of a lymphatic hematopoietic cell selected from a group comprising B-cell lines 1A9, BC7.12, BC7.7, F10, 2E8, 18-81, 70Z/3, WEHI231, and SP2/0, T-cell lymphoma cell line BW1597, and myelomonocytic leukemia cell line WEHI3, and is a protein selected from (A) a protein having the amino acid sequence shown by formula I, (B) a protein having an amino acid sequence modified by substituting, deleting, inserting, and/or adding one or more amino acid(s) in, from, into, and/or to the amino acid sequence shown by formula I, and (C) a protein which is encoded by DNA which hybridizes to DNA having the base sequence shown by formula II. It is preferable to produce the protein by culturing a host cell carrying a vector into which DNA was inserted which codes for the protein.
