PURPOSE: To obtain a product which has carboxyl groups on the surface and can fix protein, etc., by coating the surface of a product with a compd. having a functional group convertible into a carboxyl group, immobilizing the compd. by a plasma treatment, and converting the functional group into a carboxyl group.
CONSTITUTION: The objective plastic product having carboxyl groups on its surface and capable of immobilizing amino acids, peptide, protein, etc., is obtd. by immersing a molded plastic article (e.g. a polyethylene film) in an aq. soln. contg. a compd. having at least one functional group convertible into a carboxyl group (e.g. sodium undecylenate) and a surfactant (e.g. sodium dodecylsulfate) for 1 hr; vacuum drying the article at room temp. to coat the surface of the article with the compd.; subjecting the surface to a plasma treatment of fix the compd. on the surface; and converting the functional groups into carboxyl groups.
