NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I (wherein A is an optionally substituted 1-8C spacer hydrocarbon group containing a group of formula II attached directly to the phenyl group; R1 is H, a cycloalkyl having up to 7 ring carbon atoms, a 1-6C alkyl, benzyl or an aromatic group Ar; R2 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; R3 is H or a 1-3C alkyl; R3' is H, an optionally substituted 1-3C alkyl, carboxyl or OH, or CR3R3' is a constituent moiety of cycloalkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2,4,7-Triamino-6-[4-(dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl]pteridine.
USE: A pharmaceutical having anti-arrhythmic, diuretic or cardio-protective effect.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula III is condensed with 2,4,6-triamino-5- nitrosopyrimidine in the presence of an alkali alcoholate in an ether alcohol at 70-120°C for about 2 hours.
