Title:
PULSE COUNT CIRCUIT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3283188
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse count circuit, whereby a pulse signal output of an encoder for outputting a high-frequency pulse signal, especially, a high- resolution encoder is counted with precision without making a clock pulse frequency high and a rotation position is detected with high precision.
SOLUTION: A munerical arithmetic circuit 7 predicts a new count value from the latest value and the value two cycles before. Pulse signals A and B from the encoder 1 and the prediction count values P2, P1 and P0 are converted into the count values C2, C1 and C0 of low-order three bits by synchronization with the change of a clock signal CLK from a clock signal generator 2. When the new count value is obtained, it is based on prediction from the past value, so that a miscount does not easily occur in spite of the suppression of a clock frequency. The count value of more than four bits is counted, based on the signal D, C2, C1, C12 and C11 in the decoders 12 and 13 and a bit up/ down counter 13.
