PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of an electrode, and to lengthen a lifetime while enabling high-repeated oscillation by installing an inversion-current avoidance circuit avoiding inversion currents generated by reason of reverse voltage applied to a main discharge electrode after the completion of main discharge at a position, where reverse voltage can be reduced.
CONSTITUTION: When currents i1 are made to flow through a capacitor 4 for generating pulses and charged, trigger is applied to a switch 5 composed of a thyratron in t=t0, and charges previously charged in the capacitor 4 for generating pulses are discharged. Charges are transferred from the capacitor 4 for generating pulses to a peaking capacitor 3 in t=t01 after a time determined by the product of voltagextime of a switch 13 by a saturable reactor passes at that time. Main discharge is started between main discharge electrodes 1, 2 and currents i3 are made to flow in t=t1, and reverse voltage intends to be generated in the capacitor 4 for generating pulses, but bypass currents i4 are made to flow because the inversion-current avoidance circuit of a diode 11 and a resistor 12 is connected in parallel with the capacitor 4 for generating pulses, thus generating no reverse voltage in the capacitor 4 for generating pulses.
