To reduce NOx and unburned components at a burner part, reduce the unburned components passing through the burner part, and achieve effective combustion of low-grade coal without large-scale modification such as increasing the size of a furnace.
An oxygen-containing organic compound solely or the oxygen- containing organic compound mixed into an air for combustion from the burner part is carried separately from a pulverized coal supply flow passage, in other words, the oxygen-containing organic compound is mixed into the air for combustion, not into an air for carrying the coal, and is charged. At least one of a nozzle for supplying the oxygen-containing organic compound mixed into the air for combustion at a temperature of 250°C or more is provided on at least one of an outer periphery, an inner periphery or the both of the pulverized coal supply flow passage. Further, a port for charging the oxygen-containing organic compound with the air for combustion at the temperature of 250°C or more and an after-air port for charging only the air for combustion are provided on a back flow side of the burner.
