To provide a pump for feeding a small quantity of molten metal every operation from a melting furnace.
This pump for feeding the molten metal is provided with a closed box 10 of comparatively small capacity and a tubular molten metal tapping trough 11 extending from the lower part to the upper part of the box 10, having smaller inner diameter than that of the box 10 and projected from the molten metal surface in a furnace at the upper part thereof and dipped into the molten metal at the lower part thereof. The tapping trough 11 is extended from the lower part of the box 10 to the position of the upper end height of the furnace 1 and the molten metal in the furnace is made to flow in the box 10 and the tapping trough 11 through a communicating hole 12 formed at the bottom part of the box 10. The molten metal 8 surface level in the box 10 is pressurized and pushed down with inert gas from an ordinary state holding molten metal 8 in the furnace, box and tapping trough at the same surface level, and then, the molten metal quantity corresponding to the push-down quantity, is divided and intruded into the furnace and the tapping trough 11 from the box. In the tapping trough 11, the head of the molten metal surface is made high with the divided and intruded molten metal, and the pump action is generated and the molten metal in the furnace is spouted from the upper end of the tapping trough 11 gradually at every operation.
