To minimize the setup of tool change by feeding back the punch identification information from a punch identification medium reading device and the die identification information from a die identification medium reading device to an automatic programing device as a set of punch/die identification information.
In the case of setting the punch and die 26, 28 into prescribed setting holes 22a, 24a on turrets 22, 24, first e.g. the punch identification medium is read with a proper portable reading means, thereafter the punch 26 is set to the upper turret 22. Next, the identification medium of the die 28 is read. In the case of not coinciding with or not adapting to the information from the punch identification medium, an error signal is outputted. In the case of the information of both coinciding with or adapting to, the positional information of setting holes 22a, 24a on the turret and the paunch identification information/the die identification information are stored in the memory of the NC unit for a punch press as a set of data, and fed back to the automatic programing device making a numerical control program.
