To provide a punching apparatus having a high degree of freedom on a setting position of a punch and capable of being miniaturized.
In the punching apparatus in which punching is applied to a workpiece 600 made from a sheet metal by moving the punch by means of a cam unit 1, a piercing punch 2A is used as a punch. The piercing punch 2A is directly attached and fixed on a cam slider 12A of the cam unit 1 without using a retainer. The piercing punch 2A can have a large clearance against a die 610 to permit an eccentricity of the piercing punch against the die 610. Thus, accurate positioning of a punch position may be unnecessary. Furthermore, a contact resistance force at the time of pulling-out the piercing punch 2A from the die 610 can be lessened so that the piercing punch 2A can be directly attached and fixed on the cam slider 12A without using the retainer.
