Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying acetic acid by which purified acetic acid is efficiently recovered from an aqueous solution of the acetic acid with a low heat quantity.
SOLUTION: A raw material solution 1 at 10-50wt.% acetic acid concentration is introduced into an extractor 2 and an extracting agent 3 containing isopropyl acetate in an amount of 0.6-3.0 times based on the raw material solution 1 is fed to the extractor 2 to extract the acetic acid into the phase of the extracting agent. The extracted solution 4 is then fed to an azeotropic distillation column 6 to carry out the azeotropic distillation of water with the extracting agent. Thereby, the dehydrated purified acetic acid 19 is recovered from the column bottom.
