Abstract:
PURPOSE: A chelate reagent is added to an aqueous crystine solution containing iron, then, neutralized crystallization is effected to obtain cystine of reduced iron content, which is used as a precursor of cystine, an aminoacid used as a medicine, food additive and cosmetic feedstock.
CONSTITUTION: A chelate reagent such as ethylenediaminetetracetic acid is added to an acidic or alkaline aqueous solution of cystine containing iron in an excessive amount, preferably 3W5mol equivalents. Then, an alkali such as ammonia or sodium hydroxide or an acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid is added to adjust the pH to 4.0W7.5 to effect neutralized crystallization whereby the objective compound is colleced.
