Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying lipstatin in high yield and high purity from crude lipstatin.
SOLUTION: This method comprises (a) a liquid-liquid extracting step of lipstatin from a nonpolar solvent selected from an aliphatic or an aromatic hydrocarbon into a polar solvent selected from a carboxylic acid an alcohol, an O-monosubstituted mono- or polyethylene glycol, a diol or a bipolar aprotic solvent and then (b) a step of diluting the polar solvent phase with water or changing the phase ratio and reextracting the lipstatin into a new nonpolar solvent.
