PURPOSE: To purify lubricant, by adding sugar to it, by applying direct current to it in a container having positive and negative electrodes so that impurities such as sulfur,nitrogen oxide, etc. in the lubricant such as engine oil, etc. are removed.
CONSTITUTION: An engine oil fed from the inlet 14 of the cap 13 to the electrostatic filter 11 is made to flow into the inner electrode 21, sent through the small hole 22 of the electrode 21 to the purifying chamber A between the electrode 21 and the container 22, raised in the chamber A and made to flow out of the outlet 15. In the operation, an electric current is applied from the negative electrode of the electric source 10 of the direct current ot the filter 11, the electrode 21 is made negative, the outer electrode namely the container 12 is made a positive electrode, an electric field is formed in the chamber A, fine particles charged with negative electricity in the oil are attracted to the container 12 and attached to its inner face.
