PURPOSE: To purity the titled polymer to improve its catalytic activity of isomerizing quadricyclene, by heat-treating, in vacuum, the titled polymer produced from pyromellitic anhydride.
CONSTITUTION: A crude metal phthalocyanine polymer is produced by using pyromellitic anhydride, urea, and a metal halide as materials, and purified by heating it in vacuum at 300W600°C. When it is used as such as an isomerization catalyst for quadricyclene in a photochemical fuel system, the rate of isomerization, i.e., the rate of heat generation is not satisfactory, or after it is used as a catalyst for a certain period of time, and its catalytic activity is decreased or lost, the regeneration of its activity has been difficult. by further heating in vacuum the polymer produced by a conventional process as above, its catalytic activity can be improved.
