Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive and exceedingly simple method of purifying methanol to remove impurity, especially chlorine ion, contaminated by marine transportation, etc., by passing the methanol through a specific equipment.
CONSTITUTION: A single-column ion exchanging equipment packed with a mixture of a strong-acidic cation exchange resin and a strong-basic anion exchange resin is installed at an inlet tube or at an outlet tube of a methanol transportation means or a storage facility. The objective purification is attained by passing the methanol through the ion exchanging equipment at a flow rate of 5-500hr-1 in terms of LsV (a liquid space velocity).
