Abstract:

To solve an environmental problem and an economic problem existing when producing ferronickel through pyrometallurgy with the use of a metalhydroxide or metal carbonate containing nickel and cobalt.

This production method includes employing the metal hydroxide 206 containing nickel, from which sulfur and chlorine are previously removed. Thereby, the method enables such an operation as not to increase the concentration of SOxand Cl2gases in a waste gas 216. Accordingly, the method does not require a waste gas treatment facility to be newly installed, and consequently reduces an investment cost for the facility.
