Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a high-purity funori extract efficiently by heating and boiling water contg. funori, filtering the resulting extract, and dehydrating and drying the resulting clear filtrate.
CONSTITUTION: Purified funori (gloiopeltis glue) is obtd. by heating and boiling water contg. funori, filtering the resulting polysaccharide-contg. extract, subjecting the resulting clear filtrate to spray drying, drum drying, or freeze drying, or to precipitation with an alcohol and separation of precipitates. If necessary, funori before the extraction is treated in an alkali such as NaOH, KOH, or Ca(OH)2. The problem with difficult purification due to the high viscosity of the funori extract is overcome by adding a filtration assistant such as perlite or dictomaceous earth to the extract to stepwisely remove insol. residues from it and by conducting the alkali pretreatment to reduce the viscosity. The clear filtrate is pref. purified by passing it through an ion-exchange resin.
