To provide a purifying method of an organic peroxide which permits retention of activities of the organic peroxide, as a catalyst used for an epoxidation reaction for obtaining propylene oxide from propylene, at a high level for long terms.
The purifying method of the organic peroxide comprises the steps below, where the temperature at the second step and/or the fourth step are each not lower than 50°C and not higher than T(°C) calculated by formula (1): T(°C)=150-0.8×w (w being the content (wt%) of the organic peroxide in the solution containing the organic peroxide): a first step for manufacturing an organic peroxide solution containing a sodium compound by oxidation of an organic compound; the second step for separating the organic peroxide solution from an aqueous phase; a third step for bringing the organic peroxide solution containing the sodium compound separated in the second step into contact with water; and the fourth step for separating the organic peroxide into an oil layer and the sodium compound into the aqueous layer.
