NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or group expressed by formula II (R5 and R6 are alkyl, etc.; n is 1-4); R3 and R4 are alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, etc.; X is O or S; Z is N or CY4; Y1 to Y3 are H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; Y4 is H, hydroxyl, mercapto, etc.].
EXAMPLE: 4,6-Dimethoxy-2-[2-(N,N-dimethylaminooxycarbonyl)phenoxy]pyrimidine.
USE: A herbicide capable of exhibiting excellent selectivity between crops and weeds and controlling wide range of weeds.
PREPARATION: A phenol derivative expressed by formula III is reacted with a pyrimidine derivative expressed by formula IV (W1 is halogen or group expressed by formula V; m is 0, 1 or 2) without using any solvent or in a solvent in the presence of a base at ambient temperature to boiling point of the solvent to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
