Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound having a broad antibacterial spectrum, thus useful as an antibacterial agent for gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I [R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2-R4 are each H, (substituted) lower alkyl, amino-protecting group, etc.; X1 is H or OH-protecting group; X2 is H, carboxyl-protecting group, ammonio, or alkali(alkaline earth) metal; Y2 is H or amino-protecting group], e.g. (1R,5S,6 S)-6-[(1R)-1-hydroxyethyl]-2-[(3S,5S)-5-sulfamoylaminomethyl-1-pyrrolidine-3- yl]thio-1-methyl-1-carba-2-penem-3-carboxylic acid. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by reacting a carbapenem derivative of formula II (X3 is eliminable group) with a pyrrolidine derivative of formula III (Y1 is H or mercapto-protecting group) followed by, as necessary, deprotection.
