PURPOSE: To prepare a pyrrolyl group-pendant polysilane of a given formula improved in electroconductivity by reacting a diorganohalogenosilane with a pyrrolyl group-contg. dihalogenosilane.
CONSTITUTION: An alkali metal such as Na is added to and stirred in an inert solvent such as toluene in an atmosphere of N2 to prepare a dispersion, to which a diorganohalogenosilane of the formula: R1R2SiX2 such as dimethyldichlorosilane, and a pyrrolyl group-contg. dihalogenosilane of the formula: R3R4SiX2, such as 3-(N-pyrrolyl)propylmethyldmchloro-silane, are added, followed by effecting a reaction at a temp. of at least 100°C. After the completion of the reaction, the liquid reaction mixture is concentrated to precipitate a product to thereby obtain a pyrrolyl group-pendant polysilane of the formula I [wherein R1 to R4 are each H or a monovalent org. group; at least one of R3 and R4 is a pyrrolyl group-contg. monovalent hydrocarbon group of the formula II (wherein R5 and R6 are each H, an alkyl, or the like; and (p) is 0 to 12); X is a halogen atom; 0≤k<1; 0<m≤1; k+m=1; and n>6].
