Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable accurate quantitative determination of a polyamine, by converting a polyamine in a specimen into ω-aminoalkylaldehyde with an oxidase and reacting the compound with ω-aminoalkylaldehyde hydrogenase.
CONSTITUTION: A specimen is treated with an enzyme oxidizing a polyamine to convert the polyamine in the specimen into ω-aminoalkylaldehyde. The produced ω-aminoalkylaldehyde is made to react with ω-aminoalkylaldehyde dehydrogenase in the presence of an oxidized nicotinamide coenzyme and the formed reduced-type nicotinamide coenzyme is determined to determine the polyamine. The oxidized nicotinamide coenzyme is e.g. oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate.
