Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantum dot capable of obtaining a photoelectric transfer characteristic even if size is large and also to provide a solar cell employing the same.SOLUTION: A main constituent of a quantum dot 5a is an amorphous material. Even if the main constituent of the quantum dot 5a is the amorphous material having low crystallinity, confinement effect of electrons is exhibited. Moreover, on a main surface of a semiconductor substrate 1, a solar cell has a quantum dot layer encapsulating the quantum dot whose main constituent is the amorphous material. As a result, transportation efficiency of a carrier can be enhanced, and the solar cell having high photoelectric conversion efficiency can be obtained.
