Title:
QUASI-OPTICAL GYROTRON
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03152831
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To apply a quasi-optical gyrotron to the installation of a layered beam gun by providing two mirrors of a resonator opposite to each other and moving the two mirrors, which have been synchronized with a desired frequency, on an axis of the resonator with the operation of movable holders. CONSTITUTION: An alternating electromagnetic field at a high frequency is excited in a resonator by turning of electrons, and a desired electromagnetic radiation is released from the resonator and supplied to a user through a high- frequency window and a waveguide as needed. The high-frequency window transparently separates a vacuum case 9, in which each part of the high-frequency window is installed, from an outside space. Since two coils 3a, 3b generate a strong force on each other, they are held by a supporting structure 7. This supporting structure has a through port or a free space fitted for the resonator. For example, as a supporting structure 7, a protective frame, which is formed by appropriately arranging steel material or titanium bars having a through-hole, can be used. At the time of switching a gyrotron from one frequency to another frequency, two holders 8a, 8b are rotated, and the mirrors 4c, 4d replace the mirrors 4a, 4b.
