本技術は、３００〜７５０の範囲の数平均分子量のヒドロカルビル置換基を有するイミド含有第四級アンモニウム塩、および燃料組成物の撥水性能を向上させるためのこのような第四級アンモニウム塩の燃料組成物での使用に関する。本技術のまたさらなる態様では、内燃機関を操作する方法が提供される。一実施形態では、本方法は、（ａ）内燃機関に燃料組成物を供給するステップ、および（ｂ）前記内燃機関を操作するステップを含むことができる。
