Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition containing a quaternary ammonium salt.SOLUTION: There is provided a quaternary ammonium salt detergent made of a reaction product of a reaction of: (a) a Mannich reaction product having a tertiary amino group, the Mannich reaction product being prepared by a reaction of a hydrocarbyl-substituted phenol, an aldehyde, and amine; and (b) a quaternizing agent suitable for converting the tertiary amino group to a quaternary nitrogen. Also provided is the use of the quaternary ammonium salt detergent in a fuel composition to reduce intake valve deposits.
