PURPOSE: To obtain accurate information about an obstacle by correcting the relative speed against the obstacle detected from a Doppler shift.
CONSTITUTION: In radar equipment for traveling object which detects the distance to an obstacle reflecting radio waves from the delayed time of the radio waves and relative speed against the obstacle detected from a Doppler shift component contained in the reflected component of the radio waves by transmitting the radio waves in the advancing direction of a traveling object from a transmission antenna 15 and receiving the reflected waves of the radio waves through a reception antenna 16, a signal processing circuit 22 detects the information about the distance to the obstacle and relative speed against the obstacle at every updated timing and a measurement circuit 23 finds the difference between the detected distance information and the distance information detected at the next timing and, at the same time, measures the time required for updating the timing. Then a differentiation circuit 24 finds a corrected relative distance against the obstacle by dividing the difference between the two pieces of distance information by the time required for updating the timing.
