Title:
RADIAL ANISOTROPIC RARE EARTH-IRON BASED PERMANENT MAGNET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0684628
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To realize a high performance radial anisotropic magnet at low cost by melting an alloy composed of R, B, and the remainder of iron and inevitable impurities, casting the molten alloy to produce an ingot, and then subjecting the ingot to hot processing.

CONSTITUTION: An alloy composed of 8-25atomic% of R (R represents at least one kind of rare earth element including Y), 2-8atomic% of B, and the remainder of iron and inevitable impurities is melted. The molten alloy is then casted through solidification to produce a cast ingot which is subsequently subjected to heat treatment at 500°C or above in order to harden the ingot magnetically thus orienting the easy axis of magnetization of crystal particle in the radial direction of a ring. This magnet exhibits bulk coercive force in the compositional region where coercive force iHc can not be achieved through conventional sintering method, and production process is simplified significantly.
