PURPOSE: To effectively operate an erasing lamp by constituting the above information reader in such a manner that exciting and reading are executed in the forward path of the forward and backward movement of an exciting and reading means and that erasing is executed in the backward path and arranging an erasing means in such a manner that this means exists at the top in the forward path direction of the exciting and reading means.
CONSTITUTION: The exciting, reading and erasing unit 3 is fixed at a moving plate 31. This moving plate 31 is movable forward and backward by means of an internal screw rod 26 rotated by a motor 25 and an external screw body screwed thereonto. The exciting, reading and erasing unit 30 is formed movable back and forth relative to a panel 4 in such a manner that the erasing lamp 33 exists nearer the top side in the forward path direction than the exciting and reading part. Then, the exciting and reading part moves to the final end of the panel 4 and the erasing lamp is eventually disconnected from the panel 4 when the exciting and reading end. Consequently, the timing for lighting of the erasing lamp 33 is expedited and the erasing operation is carried out in the stable lighting state.
