To relax a patient with the compulsive feeling that he/she has to breathe in accordance with music in radiation treatment/diagnosis.
This radiation irradiation apparatus, having a respiratory measurement unit which generates respiratory signals to show the position fluctuation of a diseased part caused by breathing activities, irradiates the diseased part according to the given respiratory signals. It is also provided with a computing unit which corrects a respiratory model according to a gap between the phase of a mathematical model solution on human respiration and the phase of acquired respiratory signals, and then generates corrected signals to coordinate the stimulation to be given to the patient on the basis of the periodicity of the solution of a corrected respiratory model, and in addition, a control unit which controls the stimulation to be given to the patient, based on the corrected signals that the computing unit has generated. When it determines that the gap between the phase of the respiratory model solution and that of the respiratory signals is below a prescribed level, it calculates the difference between the target respiratory periodicity and the corrected respiratory periodicity, and adds a part of the difference to the periodicity of the corrected respiratory model.
